AL North Top Prospects

Here is the listr of the top 5 position player and pitcher prospects in the AL North.

Position Players

1.

Arthur Roberts is a 19 year old SS playing for the Low A affilate of the Salt Lake City Polygamist. Although Roberts is destined to play 3B or the corner outfield he is a great hitter. Once he hits his potential he will be one of the best hitters in the game. With very high splits, high power, high batting eye and solid contact.

2.

Alejandro Liriano is a 21 year old CF playing in AA for the Trenton Generals. Look for liriano in the Majors by the end of this year or early next year. Alejandro is a solif fielder with great range and a good glove. He is a above average hitter but nothing spectacular. Although he does have agreat eye and superb base running skills to go along with his great speed. Expect 50+ SBs per year. Liriano thrives versus righties and is sporadic versus lefties. You can also expect 20+ HRs from him and a .280 -.320 BA

3.

Felix Matthews is 20 years old and in Hi A with the Cincinnati Sinners. Felix is not projected to be a great fielder. Corner out field material. But he could be a very solid hitter. With good contact and power, crushes lefties and average vs righties. Felix has an average eye, and average to below average base running. His BR can be made up by his excellent speed. Expect to see Matthews in the Majors in 2-3 seasons.

4.

Ira Duncan is a 19 year old left fielder playing with the Low A affiliate of the Montreal Royals. Duncan projects to be able to hit 30+ HRs. He as slightly above average contact, splits, and eye. Duncan is a liability on the base paths though. Dont expect any SBs.

5.

Chip Hudson the 2nd top 5 prospect for the Royals is a 19 year old 2B playing in Low A. Chip projects to be one of the top contact hitters in the game, but wont hit a more than 3-5 HRs a year, if even that many. Chip can hit above average vs both lefties and righties. Chips biggest fault is his lack of eye. he will strike out many times a year. He also has exceptional BR abiltities. And above average speed. Expect 20-40 Sbs a year. Both Duncan and Hudson should see ML time in 2-3 seasons

Pitchers

A very interesting division pitcher wise as the top 5 prospects are all from the same team, the Trenton Generals. The Generals are going to be VERY well off once these guys hit the ML.

1.

The first of the 5 General pitchers is a future ML Ace. Reagan projects to have excel;lent control, excellent split vs the righties and above average for the lefties. Reagan has above average velocity with 2 ++ pitches.

2.

Joaquin Santos projects to have elite control of his pitches, above average splits. With above average velocity Santos also is a GB pitcher. Throw in 2 ++ pitches and 2 + pitches Santos projects to be a #2 starter.

3.

Owens projects to be an elite closer. Owens has excellent control, and excellent splits with high velocity to boot. Not to mention two of the best pitches in all of baseball. And another + pitch.

4.

Not many teams know what its like to have 2 projected aces AND 2 projected closers. Not just 2 projected closer, but two of the best closers. Hugh Collins has abover average control, and abover average splits. rarely does Collins allow hits and when he does they are on the ground. Collins throws 2 ++ pitches. He projects to be the Generals clsoer until Tom Ownes makes the majors. Then the Generals will have the top SU/CL combo in all of baseball.

5.

Last but certainly not least is Rojas. Rojas features above average control, average vs lefties, and above average vs righties. Rojas also has above average velocity and rarely allows fly ball hits. 1 ++ pitch, and 3 + pitches helps Rojas project to be a #3 or 4 pitchers in the general rotation.
